This course provides a sample of level 1 study in Mathematics at the Open University. This course introduces differential equations. Differential equations arise in many situations in mathematics and the mathematical sciences, such as physics, chemistry, engineering, biology and even economics and finance. This is because the rates of change of the quantities involved (which are derivatives) often behave in much simpler ways than the quantities themselves.
